True Beauty

The LORD says beauty is vain. A beautiful face, in the sight of God, is worthless - equal to an ugly face - if not paired with a beautiful heart. God used Esther's beauty as well as Ruth's to accomplish great things in History, but if they would have had hard, selfish and rebellious hearts, their beauty would have got them wood, hay and stubble. They would have been written down as an example of failure, much like Jezebel or Sapphira - warnings to the believers. Tell me, Christian... tell me, Sisters, what is true beauty?

Words like Beauty and Beautiful can't be found much in Scripture. What does God in His Word say about it!?

"O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness..." Psalm 96:9

Four times in the Word is this written... beauty of holiness. The lights of Creation and the stars were formed on the fourth day of History...a beauty that not one man can accurately describe. The fourth day of the holy convocation in Numbers 29 called for much sacrifice. Sacrifice was a picture of the sanctification and purity of Israel made possible to them by God. In 2 Chronicles 20, all of Judah praised the LORD in "the beauty of holiness" after a great victory had been wrought over the Ammonites and Moabites; and on the fourth day, they blessed Him in the valley of Berachah. So - there's some awesome things from the number 4.

Sisters, and Brothers (hey, David and Absalom were called beautiful), let's remember always what the Lord esteems beautiful: holiness. I know all you guys out there are interested in getting buff, and every girl wants to be gorgeous. But don't think yourself to be anything if you purpose in your heart to prepare your body (or your face) for the day ahead before you prepare your heart for the battles ahead.

"Because it is written: be ye holy, for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:16

The great I AM calls us to holiness. He desires our beauty, but not artificial. He tries our hearts, and lovingly sends us trials to purify us to even greater beauty, like gold. He cares about us being holy. He cares about our beauty. Do you have any?
